As part of its commitment to providing students with practical, industry focused learning experiences, Prime University Abuja has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Education Monitor Newspaper to enhance hands on training for students of Mass Communication.
The agreement, signed on Thursday in the office of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Moussa Mahamat Boukar, underscores the University’s drive to prepare its students for success in today’s information technology driven media landscape.


Prof. Boukar described the partnership as a timely and welcome development, emphasizing that Prime University’s educational philosophy is built on combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience. He stressed the importance of sustaining the collaboration beyond the initial signing, noting that both institutions must remain committed to ensuring long term, result oriented outcomes.


In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Prof. Abbas Ibrahim, expressed full support for the initiative and pledged the faculty’s cooperation in ensuring its success. Similarly, the Head of Department of Mass Communication, Prof. Ridwan Adeyemi, who coordinated the partnership, commended the development and proposed that the online journalism component of the training be incorporated into the students’ internship programme.
Representing the CEO and Group Editor in Chief of Education Monitor Group of Newspapers, Waziri Isa Adam, the Abuja Bureau Chief, Mr. Abah Adah, assured the University’s management of the organization’s full commitment to achieving the objectives of the partnership.
Some Mass Communication students also shared their excitement about the new development. Muntari Rukaiyya, a 300 level student, expressed her gratitude, saying she felt proud to study in a university that prioritizes both theory and practice. Her classmates, Okoye Jenifer and Tahir Bilkisu Bajjo, echoed similar sentiments, promising to make the most of the training to improve their skills in online and print journalism.
Established in 2023 and located in the Dafara settlement, Kuje Area Council, FCT Abuja, Prime University is a private, career driven institution committed to preparing students for professional excellence through technology driven and innovative learning.
