Dr. Abechi is a dedicated scholar and educator with over a decade of experience in teaching and research across higher education institutions in West Africa. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Annahdah International University, Niger (2023), holds an M.Sc. (2015) and B.Sc. (2005) in Sociology from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, a Diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Jos (2001), and a Professional Diploma in Education from City College of Education, Mararaba-Abuja (2016). He is presently pursuing a second Ph.D. in Industrial Relations at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Since beginning his academic career in 2012, Dr. Abechi has taught in several universities and held key administrative positions, including Head of Department of Criminology and Security Studies and Director of a Centre for Entrepreneurship Development at Salem University, Lokoja. He also served as Executive Director of Online Degree Programmes at Eliaversity Research and Development Institute, Accra, Ghana. He is currently a Lecturer I and Head of the Department of Criminology and Security Studies at Prime University, Abuja.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Abechi has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals. His research interests cover a wide range of areas, including criminal justice administration, criminological theory, victimology, domestic violence, terrorism financing, national security, industrial relations, organisational productivity, development studies, women’s studies, and reproductive health.
Through teaching, research, and mentorship, he continues to make valuable contributions to criminology, sociology, and security studies while preparing the next generation of scholars and professionals.
