Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Civil Law

The LLB Civil Law program at Prime University, Abuja, is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in legal education, critical thinking, and practical skills necessary for careers in law and related fields. This degree equips graduates with knowledge of civil law principles, Nigerian legal systems, and comparative perspectives, while also developing their ability to analyze, interpret, and apply the law in real-life contexts.

Our program combines rigorous academic training with practical exposure to legal practice, ensuring students are prepared for roles in legal practice, judiciary, academia, public service, corporate institutions, and international organizations.

Admission Requirements

UTME (JAMB) Requirements

  • Candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes at O’Level in not more than two sittings.

  • The required subjects include:

    • English Language (compulsory)

    • Literature-in-English (compulsory)

    • Mathematics (credit pass required, though not necessarily part of JAMB subject combination)

    • Any other two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects (e.g., Government, History, CRS/IRS, Economics).

  • In the UTME (JAMB), candidates must sit for:

    • Use of English

    • Literature-in-English

    • Government or History

    • Any other relevant Arts or Social Science subject.

  • The minimum JAMB cut-off mark for Law is subject to the guidelines set annually by JAMB and Prime University, but applicants are encouraged to aim for 250 and above for competitive advantage.

Direct Entry Requirements

  • Candidates with two A-Level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects (including Literature-in-English).

  • Candidates with a Diploma in Law from a recognized institution (with at least Upper Credit).

  • Holders of a Bachelor’s degree in related fields may also be considered.


O’Level Subject Combination (WAEC/NECO/GCE)

  • English Language (CREDIT)

  • Literature-in-English (CREDIT)

  • Mathematics (CREDIT)

  • Government/History (CREDIT)

  • One other relevant subject (e.g., CRS/IRS, Economics, Civic Education).
