BNsc Nursing Science

Nursing Science – Undergraduate Programme Overview

Overview of the Programme

Nursing Science as an undergraduate programme is dedicated to training students in the art and science of caring for individuals, families, and communities to achieve, maintain, or recover optimal health. It integrates medical knowledge, clinical practice, and compassionate care to prepare graduates as professional nurses who can function effectively in various healthcare settings.

The programme typically spans five years and leads to the award of a Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.) degree. Upon completion, graduates are eligible to sit for the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) professional examinations to become Registered Nurses (RN) and Registered Midwives (RM).

Students acquire a solid foundation in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, nutrition, medical-surgical nursing, maternal and child health, community health, and nursing ethics. The programme combines classroom instruction, laboratory simulation, and extensive clinical practice in hospitals and community health centers.
