Biography

Dr. Ibrahim is a physician and public health expert with more than 35 years of professional experience in clinical medicine, health project management, and academic leadership. He holds an MBBS from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1978), and an MSc in Mother and Child Health from the University of London (1985). Over the course of his career, his work has extended beyond clinical practice to include health systems strengthening, policy management, donor engagement, and large-scale program implementation in Nigeria and abroad.

Dr. Ibrahim has served in several senior medical and administrative roles, including Director of Health Systems Strengthening and Laboratory Services at Family Health International (FHI 360), Medical Director at Eastern and Western Hospital, Jabi, Abuja, and Director of Medical Services at the Global HIV/AIDS Initiative Nigeria (GHAIN). He has also worked extensively with international development partners such as USAID, CDC, DFID, and the Global Fund on HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, maternal and child health, and health policy programs.

He joined Prime University, Abuja, as a Lecturer II in the Department of Medicine and also serves as Director of Medical Services, where he brings his wealth of clinical, managerial, and technical expertise to teaching, research, and institutional healthcare services.

His research and professional interests span clinical medicine, maternal and child health, HIV prevention and care, malaria and TB integration, reproductive health, and health systems management. Dr. Ibrahim has presented at major international and national conferences, authored and co-authored multiple technical papers, and contributed to shaping Nigeria’s health policy landscape.

Fluent in English and Hausa, with working knowledge of French and Arabic, Dr. Ibrahim continues to make valuable contributions to medicine, public health, and education while mentoring young healthcare professionals.
