The Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) in Sharia and Civil Law at Prime University, Abuja, is a comprehensive law program designed to equip students with a strong foundation in both Nigeria’s conventional civil law system and Islamic jurisprudence (Sharia). The program recognizes Nigeria’s unique legal structure, where statutory, customary, and Islamic laws coexist, and prepares graduates to navigate and contribute meaningfully to this pluralistic legal environment.
Over the course of study, students will acquire critical knowledge of constitutional law, criminal law, contracts, property law, family law, and jurisprudence, alongside deep engagement with the principles of Sharia law such as Islamic family law, Islamic criminal law, Islamic commercial transactions (Muamalat), and principles of Islamic jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh). Graduates of this program are well-prepared for professional practice, judicial service, academia, policy-making, and community leadership, especially in areas where Sharia and civil law intersect.
